Blog #2 Fast Food Nation

Fast food was part of my life in my childhood but it wasn’t a daily routine, like some kids I know that they had to have it from beginning to the end of the day. The only times we would eat fast food was when my brother would have soccer tournaments. For the fact that my mom always cooked for us, and there was always home made food at the house. It was a once in a while thing that we would go to fast food restaurants.  Some of the restaurants we would go to were; McDonald’s, Taco Bell, Burger King, A-Burger and Wendy’s. When we would go to McDonald’s I would always get the happy meal to collect the toys they were giving out. Moreover for A-Burger we would get a burger with onion rings and soda because they didn’t give happy meals. As for Wendy’s and Burger King I would always get a happy meal as well. When I was small I actually felt happy going to go eat at fast food place because the only way we would go was if my brother was in a tournament and if we didn’t have time to eat breakfast or just after the game. Therefore, when we would go, my dad would have us a limit of how much fast food we can eat in a week, so if he knew we were going to be out in the weekend we couldn’t eat during the week.

As of today fast food in my life is about the same. The only time I go is when there’s nothing to eat at the house or when my boyfriend wants to take me out to eat. Other than that those are the only times because there’s always home-made food at the house. Therefore, I don’t rely on it because there’s always food at my house and because my mom has been teaching me how to cook since I was in high school and if there’s no food I cook for my family to show them that there’s no need to waste money and that my food can be better than the others. Moreover, for me, when I pass by the fast food restaurants I tend to go and get something if it’s not a big meal but sometimes I try to stop myself so I won’t  waste any money because u waste more on 3 things when you can go get more things for the same amount of money at a grocery store. This is only sometimes the case for me. For example, when I pass by Burger King, I can smell the onion rings and I want to eat them. I try not eat them all the time because it’s a bad example for my son and I don’t want him growing up and eating fast food all the time every day. If this were to happen to kid’s everywhere, they would be a lot more obese. They should eat healthier meals to keep their health good and not have problems with it such as getting diabetes or other sicknesses caused by eating too much.

Past, Present, and Future

My name is Sheila Maria Salazar. I’m a graduate from Hueneme High School year 2011. Throughout high school I had trouble getting good grades in freshmen and sophomore year because my parents had problems in their relationship and it was affecting me. I wouldn’t concentrate or do work at school. At the end of my junior year was when my parents got separated and I found out I was pregnant. So during the summer I planned out to graduate early so I can spend time with my little one, so I was able to graduate a semester early but I had my son when we were in finals so I was lucky my teachers passed me because I didn’t take any finals.

I’m 18 years old and my birthday is in November 13. I have a one year old named Christopher Giovanni Prado. I am in a relationship with my baby's dad. We have been together for almost 4 years and 7 months, our anniversary is on February 5. I still live with my mom. I have 2 sisters and a brother, it’s my older sister that’s 19 years old, then me, then my brother that’s 17 and then my little sister that’s 10 years old. I like to go shopping; I like to go walk to the beach. My favorite food is Mexican food, I like to eat “tacos” and “birria” with rice and beans. My favorite color is green. I like to go to the movies and watch action movies. I also like Coach purses, Uggs and I am usually wearing sandals. I like to go bike riding with my family. It’s my second year going to college. I didn't expect to go to college but my boyfriend changed my mind. He started college a year before me and convinced me that I would be better off if I also went to college. While I come to class, our baby stays at home with my mom. I don't have my license so, for now, I depend on my boyfriend to take me to school and our baby's appointments.

In the future, I want to transfer to CSUCI and get my bachelor's degree in nursing.  I want to have 2 or 3 more kids but first of all I want to get married with my high school sweet heart. I want to live with him and I also want us to have our own place. Moreover, I also want the best for my son and I want him to grow healthy. For myself, I would like to get braces. I don't have my license so I would also like to get that in my future. When I do get my first car, I would like to get a Nissan Altima from the year 2000 and up, but any good working car with less than 200,000 miles would be good enough for me. In conclusion, I have a lot of plans for mu future but I have to accomplish the ones on my present first.
